Grooming Services

Karen with her two loving dogs.

Open 7 days a week!

*Sundays by Appintment only

Here at Neponset Animal Hospital, we offer a full service grooming salon by professional groomers for all your furry friends. We require that all pets are current with rabies vaccine. If you don't visit us for veterinary services, please have written proof of rabies vaccination upon arrival.

Regular grooming gives pets an attractive appearance and helps keep their coats, nails and ears healthy. It also cuts down on odor and possible pest infestation.

All dogs, regardless of breed, shape and age have different coats and require different cuts and baths. We recommend for dogs to get a bath (or cut) every 6-8 weeks.

Cats should be groomed every 6-8 weeks, but every cat is different and may require different grooming instructions. Having the correct tools for grooming a cat is essential.

We keep an array of grooming tools and a numerous amount of shampoos and coat cleaners.

DON'T FORGET:

  • Please call for drop off times, any day Monday- Sunday.
  • Pick up time will be scheduled upon arrival.
  • All pets must have a current rabies vaccination certificate

Regular grooming can prevent problems such as excessive shedding, skin disorders, painful matts and overgrowth of nails, as well as help identify other problems that might go unnoticed.

Professional groomers must learn the character, habits and coat characteristics of many different breeds. They must also know the standards of style and appearance for the various breeds, especially for show animals.

To work successfully with dogs and cats, groomers have to understand how to handle pets with very different personality types and  behaviors, making the grooming experience more pleasant for everyone.

Walk-in service for nail clipping

We also offer walk-in service to get your pets nails clipped. If you don't come to us as your vet service, simply bring in your pets current proof of rabies vaccination. We always cut your pet's nails as short as possible without hitting the quicks.

nail trimming on a dog

Tips for nails:

  • To assure your dog's nails stay short, we recommend getting them clipped every 2-6 weeks. Plenty of outdoor activities and walks on pavement help maintain shorter nails.
  • Scratching posts for cats help maintain healthy nails and also cuts down on inappropriater scratching. Cats nails should be trimmed every 2-6 weeks.

Below are before and after photos from a recent trip to the groomers.
